EGISA joins the United Nations Global Compact
We are pleased to announce that, last March, EGISA joined the United Nations Global Compact, an initiative that reflects our strong commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
The Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, promoting ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. By joining this global network, we reaffirm our dedication to integrating these principles into our strategy and daily operations.
What are the Ten Principles?
The Global Compact’s Ten Principles are grouped into four main areas: human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption.
Human Rights:
- Principle 1: Support and respect the protection of human rights.
- Principle 2: Do not be complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour Standards:
- Principle 3: Support freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
- Principle 4: Eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
- Principle 5: Abolish child labour.
- Principle 6: Eliminate discrimination in employment and occupation.
Environment:
- Principle 7: Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
- Principle 8: Promote greater environmental responsibility.
- Principle 9: Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-corruption:
- Principle 10: Act against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
What does it mean for EGISA?
Adhering to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact has multiple implications and benefits for a company. Here are some of the key aspects of what this accession means:
- Human Rights: We are committed to respecting and protecting the fundamental rights of all people with whom we interact, ensuring fair and equitable practices in all our activities.
- Labour Standards: We promote a safe and fair working environment, support the elimination of all forms of forced labour and child labour, and promote equal opportunities and fair treatment for all our employees.
- Environment: We continue to strengthen our initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our operations by promoting sustainable practices that contribute to the preservation of the environment and biodiversity.
- Anti-Corruption: We implement strict policies and controls to prevent any form of corruption, supporting transparency and ethics in all our business relationships.
Our Commitment
Joining the UN Global Compact is a significant step in our journey towards a more sustainable and ethical future. We are committed to working together with other companies and organisations around the world to drive progress in these key areas and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We firmly believe that business has a fundamental role to play in building a better world, and at EGISA we are determined to do our part. We are grateful for the continued support of our employees, customers and partners in this exciting new chapter.
