Towards a more sustainable energy model

EGISA continues its energy transition with the installation of photovoltaic panels at its manufacturing site

At EGISA, we continue to move forward with determination towards a more sustainable and responsible industrial model. As part of our commitment to decarbonisation and energy efficiency, we have installed a photovoltaic self-consumption system on the roof of our manufacturing site in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).

Thanks to this installation, we’ll generate around 10% of our annual electricity consumption, progressing towards a more efficient and autonomous energy model.

It should be noted that since 2017, EGISA has already been using 100% renewable energy for its production processes. With this project, we take another step in our energy strategy: moving from consuming renewable energy to producing it directly, integrating on-site generation into our operations.

The photovoltaic installation has an installed capacity of 382.8 kW, reflecting a strong commitment to integrating renewable energy solutions into our production process.

The installation is expected to generate approximately 465 MWh per year of renewable energy, covering around 10% of the site’s electricity consumption. It will also help avoid approximately 116 tonnes of CO₂ per year, which is equivalent, for reference, to removing around 75 vehicles from the road or planting nearly 5,800 trees.

This project has been supported by the incentive programme for self-consumption and energy storage from renewable sources, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

This initiative is part of our overall emissions reduction plan, aligned with the principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to affordable and clean energy, climate action and responsible production.

At EGISA, we believe that innovation goes beyond eco-design and excellence in packaging; it also involves transforming our processes towards more environmentally responsible models. This project is a tangible example of how we turn commitments into concrete actions.

We will continue in this direction, integrating new initiatives that generate a positive impact for our clients, society and the environment.
